I was born in 1976 in Italy, in a small provincial town, a town quite faraway from the places where you can easily attend to modern music great events.
I had to look for the music, I reached it every time I was able to, and I ended to carry it inside myself.

At the age of sixteen, I attended Massimo Di Rocco’s percussion lessons at the Liceo Musicale Braga of Teramo (a senior high school specializing in music), but I soon understood that what I was looking for was not a flight or an arabesque. It was rhythm – the perfect rhythmic architecture of sounds: it was drums.

I began my pursuit through a slow and demanding autodidactic study, which I carried on for a long time; after that, in 1998, I was able to attend to the advanced drumming courses held by Gianni Di Renzo and Maurizio Boco at the U.M. (Università Della Musica – University of Music), in Rome.

After a three-year period, I undertook specialization studies under the guidance of Maestro Ettore Mancini, who marked a turning point in my pursuit, guiding me towards musical paths which I couldn’t imagine at the time. With Ettore, I finally became aware of my abilities, I started to feel spiritually attuned to my instrument and to control my energies at my best: I found my groove.
In the meantime, in those years I already had had meaningful experiences with other musicians:

in 1996 I was noticed by Claudio Di Nicola, leader of the Body & Soul, and I joined his band, thus taking part to many prestigious festivals like the Subiaco Rock Festival and the Aventino Blues Festival, and playing in some of the most important Italian live clubs, clubs like the Barfly in Ancona, La Rocca del Soul in Lizzano in Belvedere, the Kabala in Pescara and many others.
In the following years, I shared many other experiences with the Body & Soul: we were invited to play at the Porretta Soul Festival in Porretta Terme on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of Otis Redding’s death; we also took part to the same festival another time, in 2005.

Taking part to such events, I had the opportunity to share the stage with great musicians like Dywane Thomas, Lennie Mc Millan, Davide Dal Pozzolo, Coco Montoya, Chuck Rainey, Buddy Williams and many others.

In 2000, I started to collaborate with guitarist Gianni De Chellis, leader of the Gianni De Chellis Project, and with bassist Giuliano De Leonardis; this was a meaningful experience which gave me very much, in both musical and human terms.

In 2002, a project shared by Gianni, Giuliano and me saw the light when we gave life to the rock band The Milestones, with Joseph Scutti on the vocals and Gianni Rocci on keyboard.

In 2004 I became endorser of the UFIP cymbals, extraordinary instruments which fully satisfy all my needs for what concern sound.

In December 2005 I became drum teacher at the Accademia Musicale Start of Castelnuovo Vomano (TE).

As from February 2006, I went through many work experiences which were very relevant under both the human and professional point of view.
I recorded Gianni De Chellis’ track “La promessa del beduino” (The Bedouin’s Promise), featured in De Chellis’ second studio work, the album titled “Favole Per Adulti” (Adult Tales); In this occasion I worked with Dino Fiorenza, an extraordinary bassist with an impressive technique. The album features the participation of musicians like Matt Bissonette and Hiram Bullock.

In the same period I played in the Alex Whatanna Trio, with Dywane Thomas on bass.

Since July 2006, my didactic activity has increased considerably, as I teach at the Sottosuono music school in Pescara, and at the Associazione Culturale Musicale Otis Redding in Atri (TE).

In December, I joined Step Musique ambitious project, "Le mille facce di Roger Syd Barrett" (Syd Barrett’s thousand faces), a tribute to the genial guitarist and founding member of the Pink Floyd. The project – which was ideated and produced by Stefano Severini – saw the participation of Paolo Giordano, Michelangelo Brandimarte, Lucio D'Alessandro, and the extraordinary singer Jacqueline Perkins.
Also, musicians like Frank Gambale, Michael Manring, Massimo Varini and Michel Cusson contributed to the record, which was released between January and February 2008.

In September 2008 I have become the new drums teacher in the prestigious Accademia musicale Lizard in Amandola (AP)

In the summer 2009 I toured with Franco Fasano, singer and author of some of the most beautiful songs of the Italian pop music, songs performed by Anna Oxa, Fausto Leali, Mina and many others (“Ti lascerò”, “Mi manchi”, “Io amo”, “Certe cose si fanno”, “E quel giorno non mi perderai più”, etc.).

In September 2009, my collaboration with the Lizard academy has extended to three other schools: Macerata, Porto San Giorgio e Pescara.

Since April 2010 I have been playing with the legendary Equipe 84.

Since 2013 I have been touring with Bobby Solo.

Sono nato nel 1976, in Italia, in provincia, in un paese piccolo e piuttosto lontano dai luoghi in cui è facile assistere ai grandi eventi della musica moderna.
La musica l'ho cercata, l’ho raggiunta ogni volta che ho potuto e ho finito per ritrovarmela dentro.

A sedici anni frequentavo le lezioni di percussioni presso il Liceo Musicale Braga di Teramo con Massimo Di Rocco, ma ho capito presto che il ritmo, quello che cercavo, non era un volo, un arabesco, ma la perfetta architettura ritmica dei suoni: era la batteria.

Ho intrapreso la mia ricerca attraverso lo studio autodidattico, lento e faticoso, per un lungo periodo, al termine del quale ho potuto seguire i corsi avanzati di batteria tenuti da Gianni Di Renzo e Maurizio Boco presso l’U.M. (Università Della Musica) di Roma, era il 1998.

Completato il triennio ho intrapreso gli studi di perfezionamento sotto la guida del Maestro Ettore Mancini, che ha impresso una svolta alla mia ricerca, guidandomi verso percorsi musicali per me ancora sconosciuti. Con Ettore ho finalmente preso coscienza delle mie capacità, ho iniziato a convivere spiritualmente con il mio strumento e a controllare al meglio le mie energie: ho trovato il mio groove.
In quegli anni, intanto, avevo già avuto le mie esperienze significative con altri musicisti:

Nel 1996 ero stato notato e contattato da Claudio Di Nicola, leader dei Body & Soul, ed ero entrato a far parte del gruppo partecipando a numerosi festival prestigiosi, come il Subiaco Rock Festival e l’Aventino Blues Festival e suonando in alcuni dei più importanti Live Clubs italiani, quali il Barfly di Ancona, La Rocca del Soul di Lizzano in Belvedere, il Kabala di Pescara ed altri.

Nel 2000 è iniziata la mia collaborazione con il chitarrista Gianni De Chellis, leader del Gianni De Chellis Project, e con il bassista Giuliano De Leonardis, esperienza significativa che mi ha dato moltissimo in termini musicali ed umani.

Nel 2002 si realizza il progetto condiviso con Gianni e Giuliano e nasce il gruppo rock MileStones con Joseph Scutti alla voce e Gianni Rocci alle tastiere.

Nel 2004 sono diventato endorser dei piatti UFIP, strumenti incredibili che soddisfano pienamente tutte le mie necessità sonore.

Da dicembre 2005 sono docente di batteria presso l'Accademia Musicale Start di Castelnuovo Vomano (TE).

Da febbraio 2006 inizio diverse esperienze lavorative importanti sia dal punto di vista professionale che umano.
Registro in studio per Gianni De Chellis il brano La promessa del beduino, contenuto nel secondo album del chitarrista dal titolo Favole Per Adulti, collaborando con Dino Fiorenza, straordinario bassista dotato di tecnica impressionante. Prendono parte alla realizzazione del disco anche Matt Bissonette e Hiram Bullock.

Nello stesso periodo suono nel trio di Alex Whatanna con Dywane Thomas al basso.

Da luglio 2006 la mia attività didattica aumenta notevolmente, insegno presso la scuola di musica Sottosuono a Pescara e presso l'Associazione Culturale Musicale Otis Redding di Atri (TE).

A dicembre entro a far parte dell'ambizioso progetto della Step Musique "Le mille facce di Roger Syd Barret", tributo al geniale chitarrista fondatore dei Pink Floyd. Partecipano al progetto, ideato e prodotto da Stefano Severini, Paolo Giordano, Michelangelo Brandimarte, Lucio D'Alessandro e la straordinaria cantante Jacqueline Perkins.
Alla realizzazione del disco, in uscita tra gennaio e febbraio 2008, hanno partecipato Frank Gambale, Michael Manring, Massimo Varini e Michel Cusson.
